In a culture where we are constantly being reminded to fear others, suburbia, with the illusion of safety and prosperity it provides, has become the ideal environment for a numb existence of passive consumerism and social and environmental disengagement. For Fridge-Freezer, a two channel video installation shot at show homes in the suburbs of Manchester, Okón explores suburban alienation and it’s side effects.
